Giants want to interview Derrick Ansley for defensive coordinator.

Regarding the Giants' open position of defensive coordinator, there is still another applicant that is well-known.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, New York has submitted a request for authorization to conduct an interview with Derrick Ansley, the defensive coordinator for the Chargers, for the proposed post.

The defensive plays were called by Brandon Staley, who had previously served as the head coach of the Chargers.

He was fired after the club suffered a loss to Las Vegas by a score of 63-21 in December. On the other hand, Ansley was the defensive coordinator for the final three games of the season.

However, Ansley had joined the team in 2021 as the defensive backs coach. It was during the 2023 season that he made his debut as the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams

Although Ansley, who is 42 years old, has spent the majority of his career working as a defensive assistant in college football, he recently served as the defensive backs coach for the Raiders in 2018.

After that, he moved on to the University of Tennessee, where he served as the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach from 2019 to 2020.

Since the Giants parted ways with Wink Martindale a week ago, they are in search of a new defensive coordinator.
