If Jared Goff wants to beat the Rams, Amon-Ra St. Brown has to do it.

To get the first overall pick in 2016, the Rams used a trade. Quarterback Jared Goff was taken. Everything was fine until it wasn't. In 2018, the crime was unprecedented. The Super Bowl was attended by them. In a 13-3 defeat, Goff fumbled two easy touchdown passes to Brandin Cooks, one of which was wide open on the same play.

Some felt the Rams should pass on giving Goff a huge deal after the season. That was laughed at by Coach Sean McVay. Goff was paid market value by the Rams.

They were eager to get rid of him two seasons later. In the end, they were able to part with Goff and his enormous salary by covertly included an additional first-round selection in the trade that acquired Matthew Stafford, quarterback for the Lions, for one and three.

It was in Los Angeles in 2021 when the two squads met. This game was won by the Rams. As the Lions make their historic return to Detroit, Goff extends a warm greeting. Here, it's win or go home.

After what transpired with the Rams, Goff has admitted that he has a chip on his shoulder. Despite this, he handled the draught, re-sign, and subsequent unceremonious dump by McVay with delicacy. Getting a chance to face the Rams is huge for Goff, and his teammates understand it.

"If you asked me personally, I definitely want to win it for him," St. Brown said this week of Goff. "However, I am aware that he may choose not to inform the media or whatever. Each player possesses it, though. Anyone you question will have an opinion about how you feel when you come from a club that was a first-round choice, made it to the Super Bowl, and then was traded.

In his honor, I would like to go out and win it. Playing against his former squad really gets me pumped up. His success makes me happy. Plus, I really care about him and the squad, so I'd like to do it for him too.

This evening, it will happen. How about Goff gets even? The question is whether McVay will be validated. Outside of, say, the Super Bowl he and Stafford won before.
