New Patriots GM to work with Jerod Mayo

Despite the fact that Jerod Mayo has been hired as the next head coach of the Patriots, this is only one component of the organization's overall strategy to replace Bill Belichick.

It has been reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Media that New England will be looking to employ a new General Manager now that the organization has decided to hire Mayo.

In the past, Belichick was the most knowledgeable football expert on the squad, covering all aspects of the sport. In his news conference on Thursday, the owner of the team, Robert Kraft, noted that Belichick had acquired that influence throughout the course of his career.

Nevertheless, Kraft also addressed the advantages that every business may get from having adequate "checks and balances" in place.

"We need what I say — I call it, we need 'Dr. No's' around us, people to protect us from ourselves," Kraft added. "We need our own personal safety net.

In addition, as things progress and you gain more influence, there are instances when individuals are reluctant to speak them minds. To be clear, I am referring to all businesses.

Therefore, when the Patriots transition from Bill Belichick to Tom Mayo as head coach, the organization will adopt a new strategy for player acquisition in order to accommodate the new general manager.

A recent article published on made the observation that none of the players that New England selected in the first three rounds of the draft between the years 2014 and 2020 were given a second contract with the organization. During the next administration, the Patriots would undoubtedly like to see a change in that particular aspect.
