Police say a Missouri teenager was accused with murdering a guy who was shot over a dozen times and rolled up in an inflatable mattress.
In a statement, St. Peters police charged Jackson Pierce, 18, with second-degree murder in the death of Dalton Coleman, 23, of O'Fallon, Missouri.
He has pled not guilty and been assigned a public defender. No one from his counsel was available Thursday night.
According to a probable cause statement reviewed by NBC News, a witness told police Monday that he had been at Pierce's residence but left while three people were there—Pierce,
a second man, and a minor—but that Pierce later told him he had killed a man who tried to punch him. St. Peters police HQ exterior. Missouri's St. Peters Police Department.
The probable cause statement states that Pierce informed the caller that he and the man battled over a gun in the bedroom.
“The witness stated that Pierce informed him that the victim was shot 3-4 times but did not go down so Pierce continued to shoot,” the probable cause statement states.
The witness said Pierce told him he shot victim 14 times. A tightly packed air mattress wrapped with an electrical cord was found in Pierce's residence, according to the probable cause statement.
