Woman dies in Virginia cave after falling over 100 feet

The police in Virginia have reported that a woman passed away after falling approximately one hundred feet within a cave.

Woman identified as Autumn Giles County Emergency Services Coordinator Jon Butler told CNN Saturday that Nicole Draper, 38, of Fairlawn, Virginia.

A county emergency services press release said the Giles County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call regarding a lady falling into a cave near Pearisburg around 4:13 p.m. on Friday.

It was reported by officials that the Pearisburg Fire Department and the Giles Rescue Squad reacted to the situation.

After first responders arrived, officials called the Celco Emergency Response squad and the Blacksburg Rescue Squad's Technical Rescue Cave squad for help.

According to Butler, after rescue personnel have made their way inside the cave, they have found the corpse of Draper.

The female was rescued from the cave by rescue professionals who were working the situation, according to the statement that was released by the concerned authorities.

As of one in the morning on Saturday, rescue workers had evacuated the site, according to Butler. The investigation into the event is still ongoing at the sheriff's office.
